Executive Director's Report

Dear Friends of the Arts,

Another successful season of "Kids Meet Art"™ ("KMA"™) has come to a close. The "KMA"™ photos in this issue record the introduction of a new sponsor, The Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Chicago, and the continued support of long term "KMA"™ underwriters, as well as our talented artists sharing their expertise.

We've had a productive season … introducing some new projects while retaining most of the excellent presentations we have been offering since 1995. The schools appreciate the quality of our programs and are always anxious to give their students the opportunity to speak with professional artists to learn how their education and careers developed.

In the last issue of SPOTLIGHTS we offered a variety of art classes led by NWCC artists. On Thursday afternoons Kimball Hill's conference room/art gallery is transformed into an artist's studio. NWCC Corporate Gallery artist Didier Nolet sets up his easel and begins to teach his students how to draw with pastels. Come visit, join in, learn, and create. Classes for adults will continue through the summer, with a variety of classes for elementary students beginning in September. Look for our bulletins at your local libraries or call NWCC's office for information and schedules. Funds from the Ritzenthaler Family Foundation are being used to underwrite this new program.

As we go to press, we are anticipating an interesting summer of exploring new projects, working with new Board Members and, as always, anticipating that something new that's always just around the corner.

Happy Summer and Warmest Regards,

Kathy

A warm welcome to three new Board Members.

Jackie Gould is the Chief Financial Officer, Principal and Board Member of Assurance Agency, Ltd.. We became acquainted with Jackie when she called to ask about installing a Corporate Gallery in their offices in Rolling Meadows. The employees and visitors are all enjoying the exhibitions.

Prem Advani has spent most of his career as an engineer and computer specialist. After retiring in 1999 he founded the non-profit organization "Educate the Children." He mixes his business acumen and sincere desire to help underprivileged children improve their lives, through education. Prem is interested in the Council's "KMA"™ program.

Mark Lusson has been a good friend to the Council for many years. He participated in the opening of the galleries at the Northwest Community Healthcare Wellness Center in 1997 and at the Buffalo Grove Fitness Center in 2000. And I recall his generous support of our artists during the Council's Fine Art/Fine Craft Fair that took place at NWCH in 1998.
